Occupation authorities of the "DNR/LNR" have groundlessly announced their alleged participation in the meeting of the UN Security Council. This is reported by the fake "ministries of foreign affairs" of the unrecognized "republics".
"The plenipotentiaries of the "LNR" and "DNR" will present the position of Donbas at the meeting of the UN Security Council on December 2, 2020", - a series of news with such headlines appeared on separatist resources that picked up this topic.
"Plenipotentiary representative of the "DNR" in the Minsk negotiation process Natalia Nikonorova and plenipotentiary representative of the "LNR" Vladislav Danego will speak at a meeting of the UN Security Council. The meeting of the Security Council will be held according to the Arria formula on the topic "Implementation of the 2015 Minsk Package of Measures to resolve the situation in Ukraine: a year after the Paris summit in the Normandy format", - numerous reports of local propagandists say.
In fact, there is no talk about any UN Security Council meeting with the participation of terrorist representatives. The key word in the message of the self-proclaimed "DNR/LNR MFA" is "according to the Arria formula".
This formula presupposes not holding meetings of the Council, but informal meetings of the UN Security Council members in order to conduct an exchange of views in privately. Unauthorized persons may be invited to this unofficial meeting by the initiators, in the role of which any member of the UN Security Council can act. The Arria formula meetings are not provided for in the UN Charter and the Security Council's Provisional Rules of Procedure. These informal meetings are not a Council activity and participation is not required. These meetings are not announced in the United Nations daily journal.
A number of pro-Russian social media channels report that Germany and France have categorically refused to participate in the Russia-initiated Arria formula meeting. Paris and Berlin also blocked the broadcast and archiving of the event on the UN website.
