Defense of Russian GRU employess of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Alexander Alexandrov and Evgenyi Yerofeyev will not appeal the verdict. Alexandrov’s lawyer Valentin Rybin told that, - reports Ukrainska Pravda with the reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, after the verdict of the Ukrainian court enters into force, it will be possible to talk only about filing a suit for pardon.
"We have decided not to appeal," - he said in comments, while recalling that the appeal deadline expires on May 23rd and the verdict comes into force at night on May 24th.
The lawyer noted that the defense intended to use legal mechanisms.
"We are talking about possibility to fill a suit for pardon to the President of Ukraine," - said Rybin.
In addition, he added that such a suit may be filed on behalf of both the convicts and their lawyers.
In her turn, Yerofeyev’s lawyer Oksana Sokolovskaya told the news agency that the verdict came into force de facto on Monday - on May 23rd.
However, she also said that she would file a suit for pardon for Russian secial forces employees.
"We will file a suit for pardon to the President," - she said, without specifying how long such a suit can be considered as the law does not provide a clear time frame of this procedure.
Later she clarified on her Facebook page that the suit for pardon will be filed "soon".
